Service · Small roof jobs
Dover easterlies lift slates and tiles every autumn. Ridge mortar cracks and gets pulled out by the same wind. Small chimney flashings tear. All of those are quick single-visit fixes if they’re caught before water gets into the felt. Left, they’re a ceiling job.
Fixed price quoted up front after seeing photos and the postcode. No day-rate creep once a number’s agreed. Bands are a starting ring; the real number lands after we’ve seen the job.
| Band | Range | Typical fits |
|---|---|---|
| Small job | £45–£120 | One or two slipped slates reseated in a single visit. |
| Half day | £120–£220 | Slipped-tile plus ridge repointing on one ridge line. |
| Full day | £220–£380 | Full ridge repoint plus flashing repair, one property. |
| Larger jobs | £380+ | Multiple ridges, scaffold-tower work, chimney gulley - quoted fixed. |
The Dover easterly wind pattern from mid-October through March lifts fixings on any west-facing roof pitch. The classic damage is one or two slipped slates per season on the terraces above Buckland and along the Old Folkestone Road. Caught early, that’s a 45-minute reseat. Left, water gets under the batten and the felt starts to rot. Six months later it’s a ceiling patch and interior repaint job.
Ridge pointing is the other Dover-specific issue: salt-air erosion of the original lime mortar on Victorian ridge lines happens visibly faster on cliff-elevation properties than inland. Three-yearly inspection is sensible; a full re-point is a half-day handyman job if it’s caught before the ridge tiles start to lift.
What we don’t do: strip and re-cover, full-roof replacement, complex chimney rebuilds, or anything requiring a scaffold beyond a standard tower. That’s a roofer’s job. We’ll tell you on the phone before we come out, so you don’t pay for a wasted visit.
